Logo Design and Design Process
A logo is a symbol of your business. It can be made up of text, images and colours. The key role of a logo is to give your business, product or service an identity. Think of your logo as the face of your business, it identifies who you are, what you value and what you do. Brands like Apple, Nike and McDonalds you associate the logo before the product or service, that’s because they have a strong brand identity, it’s the identity that people associate first, rather than the product.
Logos can influence are decisions – because we often make decisions based on looks alone, if a company appears too expensive, too fun or too corporate we will avoid it. This is known as brand perception – It’s the impression that your business leaves on your audience. Your logo has to represent your business and be relevant to your target audience.
Anyone can design a logo but not everyone can design a great a logo. A successful design has to simple, relevant, enduring, distinctive, memorable and adaptable. The logo is part of your branding, along with advertisements, customer service, uniforms etc. Your logo has to be versatile and be able to adapt to a multitude of uses with ease.
Before choosing your logo, think about your brand identity your company values, heritage, mission statement and target audience. Develop a brief with clear benchmarks and make decisions based around the aims and values of your business.
